Ontologies and semantic metadata formats developed at DFKI
BIO: Biography - The biography ontology focuses on the representation of biographical information for people. It is part of a larger set of ontologies created for the TrendMiner project.
CFI: Classification of Financial Instruments. It is part of a larger set of ontologies created for the TrendMiner project.
Temporal Ontology: Time. The temporal ontology encodes the binary distinction between synchronic and diachronic properties through the (meta-)classes time:SynchronicProperty and time:DiachronicPropertry, subclasses of the class rdf:Property. Is part of the set of ontologies developped for the HySociaTea project.
TMI An ontology version of the Stith Thompson's Motif-index of folk-literature. It is in ttl syntax. (See Stith Thompson. 1955-1958. - This ontology provides a vocabulary that captures the instructional semantics of a virtual or text-book learning resource. In general, each learning object serves a particular pedagogical role. These roles are reflected in the classes of the ontology.
OMDoc - Contact Michael Kohlhase for further information
- OMDoc is a markup format and data model for Open Mathematical Documents on the Web. OMDoc is an extension of the OpenMath and (content) MathML standards. It extends these formats by markup for the document and theory level of mathematical documents, so that the document author can specify them and the consumer (an OMDoc reader or a mathematical software system) can take advantage of them. This allows to develop semantics-based added-value services for displaying and manipulating mathematical formulae and structured documents.
SWIntO: SmartWeb Integrated Ontology - Contact Malte Kiesel for further information
- The SWIntO ontology consists of three layers, the upper model DOLCE, the domain-independent model SUMO and several domain ontologies:
- SportEvents – As the soccer world cup 2006 is the main application scenario of the SmartWeb project, corresponding knowledge is modeled in the SportEvents ontology.
- Navigation – The SmartWeb user interfaces is based on mobile applications, e.g., by means of PDAs or by integration in cars or motorcycles. Navigation modeling is therefore a core requirement.
- Discourse - Multimodal web access is one of the core features of the SmartWeb sytem. It is therefore necessary to model user interaction in a generic way.
- Multimedia - The SmartWeb system is able to display multimedia data such as live video streams. This data is described by means of an MPEG-based multimedia ontology.
- LingInfo – LingInfo constitutes an ontology and linguistic knowledge base that provides for all other ontologies used in SmartWeb linguistic information (orthographic realizations, grammatical gender, stem and inflection) on ontology classes and properties for languages that are relevant to the SmartWeb scenario, i.e. German and English (and into some respect also French).
